Getting Your Back on Track
With Mornington Chiropractic Alignments
Chronic pain due to poor posture, sports injury or spinal disorder should not impact your ability to enjoy life. Whether you experience a mild headache or severe pain with aching, throbbing, pinching or tingling sensations, our holistic chiropractic care can help you feel like yourself again.
At our Mornington Chiropractic clinic, we offer chiropractic solutions to alleviate the following conditions:
Neck pain
Whether you hunch over your computer for hours or have simply slept poorly, using a chiropractor for neck pain identifies the underlying cause of your pain to correct and prevent it from coming back.
Back pain
Slumping and slouching all day or lifting heavy objects can cause back pain. Using a chiropractor for back pain focuses on improving the movement of the spine to relieve upper, mid and lower back pain.
Headaches
A headache is a warning signal something is off in your body. Using a chiropractor for headaches determines exactly what type of headache you are experiencing and alleviates the cause of it.
Sciatica
Through chiropractic adjustments, a chiropractor for sciatica can improve your spinal alignment, reduce the irritation to the sciatic nerve and help you sit and move pain free.
Scoliosis
While a chiropractor for scoliosis can not straighten your spine completely, a chiropractic correction can significantly improve your spine curvature and reduce pain.
Sports injury
Whether you are an athlete or a sportsperson looking to improve or maintain your performance, an expert sports chiropractor can help you prevent or alleviate pain or injury.
What Exactly Do Chiropractors Do?
A Doctor of Chiropractic (DC), chiro or chiropractor is a healthcare practitioner who is trained to treat conditions affecting the nervous and musculoskeletal systems (the bones, muscles, tendons and ligaments in your body). Chiropractic doctors focus their treatment on the close relationship between the spine and the nervous system. They truly believe that restoring the mobility of the spine can alleviate the irritation of the nervous system and thus improve general health.
The term “chiropractic” stems from the Greek language.
“Chiro” means “hand” and “practic” means “practice, use, action or method.” Combine these two words and the literal meaning of “chiropractic” is “done by hand” or “manual method.”
That is exactly what chiropractors do – use their hands to adjust your spine.
To be precise, spinal manipulation involves using the hands to move a joint beyond its current restricted range of motion. More often than not, this produces the infamous cracking sound, which comes from “popping” the tiny pockets of air in the fluid surrounding the joint.
Chiropractors believe in a non-invasive, hands on approach of realigning the spine, which in turn reduces pain and discomfort and improves overall well being.
In that sense, chiropractic adjustments compliment traditional medicine as they are focused on the body’s ability to self heal.

FAQs
Is chiropractic safe?
Absolutely! As long as a certified, trained and experienced chiropractitioner performs the treatment, you do not need to worry about potential complications.
What is the difference between a chiropractor, an osteopath and a physiotherapist?
The truth is that chiros, osteos and physios can help the same conditions but differ in the way they asses and treat them.
Chiropractors are experts on the spine and the nervous system. Chiropractors use chiropractic alignments to directly influence the nervous system, improve joint mobility and help restore the body's natural state of wellbeing.
Osteopaths are quite similar to chiropractors and use stretching, massaging and moving the musculoskeletal system via joint mobilisations ( different to chiropractic adjustment) to release areas of restriction within the body.
Physiotherapists focus on rehabilitation and strengthening the area of injury. A physiotherapist rehabilitates the body through movement, exercise and manual therapy, including taping and massage..
Does a chiropractic adjustment hurt?
A chiropractic correction may sound scary due to the cracking and popping sound, but you will feel no pain during your chiropractic adjustment. You may experience minor soreness after a visit similar to that after exercise or stretching.
What can I expect on my first visit?
Your first visit to our Mornington chiropractic clinic is about learning about you – Dr Erin Conway needs to understand your current condition and health history.
From here, she will assess your spine, posture and nervous system. If necessary, she will refer you for bulk billing X-Rays. Reasons for scanning include assessment of various forms of arthritis, suspected fractures, bulging discs, etc.
Once she has a full understanding of the underlying cause of the problem, Dr Erin will recommend a personalised treatment for your condition. She will also perform a chiropractic adjustment if she determines you are a suitable candidate for chiropractic care.
Do you accept private health insurance?
Yes, Chiropractic Treats accepts private health insurance but you will get reimbursement only if your policy covers chiropractic.
Do I need a referral to see a chiro?
You don’t need a referral to see your chiropractor Mornington. You can book an appointment online anytime and take a step towards a better life.
Is chiropractic safe during pregnancy?
Chiropractic is perfectly safe during pregnancy. A qualified chiropractor Mornington can help you manage back, joint and hip pain and maintain pelvic balance throughout your pregnancy and help with rehabilitation post partum.
